A letter writer risked her education when she bought a pair of guinea pigs, but she just can’t let them go.

Dear EWC

I am a 20-year-old university student and I’ve messed up. I got two guinea pigs even though my parents (who I depend on financially) said I couldn’t. They have found out and have threatened to cut my funding, but there is no way I can pay for myself and student finance does not give any more money to people in these circumstances. I know I messed up and I shouldn’t have got the guinea pigs, but I love them and I can’t give them up. What do I do?

Are my eyes deceiving me into believing that you are strongly considering giving up your education for a pair of guinea pigs?

What do you do?  Give them to a friend and ask for visitation rights and even paying, partly or wholly, for their board and keep!!

When one “messes up” one asks for forgiveness and then immediately, if not sooner, changes their modus operandi and at that point in time, and particularly in your case, gets back to the task at hand of getting an education.

Sounds like a plan to me. What do you think?
