Sharing Wisdom Readathon
Our Readathon
Readathon Fundraisers offer numerous benefits, including improved reading skills, increased motivation, a lifelong love of reading, community building, and educational advantages. They enhance reading fluency, comprehension, and vocabulary while fostering a sense of accomplishment and encouraging exploration of different genres.
By promoting regular reading, readathons cultivate a lifelong reading habit, contribute to social and academic success, and enable you to connect with like-minded people in different walks of life. They also provide opportunities for community engagement and fundraising for charitable causes like ours.
A very simple way to contribute to this readathon, is by signing up others to contribute and donate for each book you read. This will bring attention to your efforts and level of support, and help us with a great cause. We recommend as little as $10, $20 or $50 a book.
How many books can you read over the next 60 days? However many you may be able to read, know that you are showing your support for our efforts, and directly contributing to our ability to reach more people, add more elders, and extend our support into more communities.
Elder Wisdom Circle
EWC connects elders and advice seekers, offering free, confidential advice. Elders share experiences and stay engaged, while seekers gain guidance from those with similar experiences. This virtual service transcends geographical barriers, providing personalized, empathetic connections that can make a difference in people’s lives.
- 23 years of service providing valuable and fulfilling support for young people and others in need
- We have responded to more than half a million requests from over 187 countries around the world
- 90% of advice seekers were satisfied, or very satisfied with the advice and support given
- 96% of advice seekers would recommend us to others
We create a world where more than half a million connections have been made between generations, in facing human challenges and situations.
For the elders, we provide an opportunity to share their life experiences, wisdom, and perspectives with those who seek their guidance. It also helps them stay mentally active, socially engaged, and emotionally fulfilled while they are helping others with their issues, and problems.
For the seekers, it offers a source of free and confidential advice from someone who has been through similar situations, or challenges. Sometimes, based on situations in life, help from friends, family, and those outside their circle, is an essential perspective.
Founded in the San Francisco Bay Area, the Elder Wisdom Circle has Elders across North America and the globe. EWC programs, and our Elders, have been featured on ABC, BBC, and in such publications as the Wall Street Journal and Time magazine, among others.
The Elder Wisdom Circle is an IRS 501(c)3 nonprofit corporation. Your financial support is always needed and appreciated. This helps us scale our outreach and support. Please consider making a tax-deductible donation via our secure donation form below.

What People Are Reading
People acquire books through various channels, including physical bookstores, online retailers like Amazon, public libraries, gifts, borrowing apps like Libby, subscriptions, and audiobook platforms like Audible. The choice of source often depends on factors such as budget, convenience, preferred format, and personal preference.
“Per lectionem sapientia venit” – Through reading comes wisdom.
