Our Mission

Wisdom Circle fosters meaningful intergenerational connections by linking individuals seeking guidance, Advice Seekers, with a network of experienced older adults, Wisdom Keepers. Through empathy and care, our Wisdom Keepers share the wisdom of their life experiences to offer supportive advice.

What we do

Life doesn’t come with a manual, but it does come with people who’ve lived it. Wisdom Circle provides a confidential space where people can seek real advice from those who have been through similar experiences—without judgment, bias, or cost.

Our Vision

Wisdom is a gift that must be shared. We believe in the power of real people with real experiences, sharing wisdom not from textbooks or algorithms, but from the lives they’ve lived. We believe that no one should have to navigate life’s toughest moments alone when others have learned from walking the path before them.

Wisdom Circle

WC connects elders and advice seekers, offering free, confidential advice. Elders share experiences and stay engaged, while seekers gain guidance from those with similar experiences. This virtual service transcends geographical barriers, providing personalized, empathetic connections that can make a difference in people’s lives.

We create a world where more than half a million connections have been made between generations, in facing human challenges and situations.

For the elders, we provide an opportunity to share their life experiences, wisdom, and perspectives with those who seek their guidance. It also helps them stay mentally active, socially engaged, and emotionally fulfilled while they are helping others with their issues, and problems.

For the seekers, it offers a source of free and confidential advice from someone who has been through similar situations, or challenges. Sometimes, based on situations in life, help from friends, family, and those outside their circle, is an essential perspective.

Founded in the San Francisco Bay Area, the Elder Wisdom Circle has Elders across North America and the globe. EWC programs, and our Elders, have been featured on ABC, BBC, and in such publications as the Wall Street Journal and Time magazine, among others.

Becoming a Wisdom Keeper with Wisdom Circle ensures that the knowledge, resilience, and insight you’ve gained through life aren’t lost. They live on, guiding others in the moments when they need it most. If you have stories, we have people eager to listen. Our Wisdom Keepers are ages 55+.
How do you help an Advice Seeker?

Google gives you facts. AI gives you predictions. Social media gives you opinions. But only experience gives you wisdom.
At Wisdom Circle, real people who have lived through life’s hardest moments offer you the guidance you can’t get anywhere else. No bots. No judgment. Just heartfelt, honest advice from those who understand.
Right now, you might feel overwhelmed. After talking to a Wisdom Keeper, you’ll feel understood and ready to move forward—with advice only lived experience can give.

How do we measure success?
90%+ of advice seekers were satisfied or very satisfied with the advice received.
95%+ of advice seekers would recommend us to others.
Over 500,000 advice requests have been answered since our founding in 2002.
We have engaged 100+ volunteer Wisdom Keepers at any given time since inception.
How do you ensure safety?

Vetted – Wisdom Keepers go through an application vetting process and are background checked. Safety of the advice-seeker is paramount. The letter they write is treated confidentially.
Quality Control – Wisdom Keepers are trained, mentored, and have their work reviewed by our Quality Team before responses are sent to the Wisdom Seeker.
Safety – We don’t collect Wisdom Seeker information other than their email and country. They use their email address and a password to log into their own account to read the reply. No one has access to the email address except for the Executive Director. There are processes in place for handling requests where the Wisdom Seeker or others may be in danger.
How long have you been around?
How does it work?

The process is simple. Ask your question online—anonymously, without judgment. Your request is carefully matched with a Wisdom Keeper who will take the time to reflect and respond.

Within a few days, you’ll receive a thoughtful, heartfelt response with real wisdom drawn from experience.
Is my request for advice anonymous?

Yes. You deserve a place where your deepest questions are met with empathy and wisdom, not judgment. Confidentiality allows you to ask what you truly need to know without fear. This is a space built on trust, respect, and meaningful conversation.
Wisdom Keepers do not see your email address. The Wisdom Seeker will receive an email telling them their response is ready. They log in to the website using their email address and their password to read the response.
